This is a question we get asked frequently. So here’s the reason, and it has nothing to do with the beautiful city of Valencia in Spain – although it is a fantastic place to visit and does seem like a wonderful place for an office…

Ideas coming and going

Selecting a name for a company is much like selecting the name for a child – you need something that fits the personality. Lots of diligence and thought goes into the process – seemingly endless lists where names are added and scratched out as you weigh the pluses and minuses of each possibility. Every time you think you have the right name, some reason pops up as to why it’s not right.

You’ve got your short list of contenders — but how do you make the final call?
The word valency comes from the latin word valentia, meaning strength and capacity.  It’s commonly used today in chemistry and refers to an element’s combining power with other atoms when it forms chemical compounds.

Valency seemed to represent the spirit of our vision – to combine valuable industry best practices with implementation, training and software expertise to create a powerful total solution offering for our clients.

So there you have it, a bit about our history, our vision, and our name.
